Catatoga Club Expands Staff and Adds New Team Members.

The Catatoga team is expanding, and we are excited to welcome three new folks to the resort:

Glenda Chapman, Property Management Team:  Glenda arrived at Catatoga in May after working for 12 years at the Lake Toxaway Company.  She is a lifelong resident of the Lake Toxaway area and she and her husband Carl have 3 children and 6 grandchildren.  They consider themselves fortunate that all of their extended family still live nearby!  Glenda heads up our housekeeping team and is primarily responsible for the sparkling appearance of our residences and club facilities.  Thanks Glenda!

Dan Pitts, Fishing Guide and Riverkeeper:  Dan is no stranger to Catatoga or Indian Creek.  He is a longtime fly fisherman and past president of the Great Smoky Mountains chapter of Trout Unlimited near his hometown of Knoxville, TN.  Here is an excerpt from a letter Dan sent to Jim Austelle after a visit to Catatoga last year:  “…I observed something on Indian Creek that really sets it apart from what we usually see in the Smokies and to some extent, Western North Carolina:  A prolific Green Drake hatch that had every fish in the stream turned on for about 3 hours…never have I caught as many [trout] that averaged as large as those in this little stream.  I will have to rank the overall quality of fishing on Indian Creek as good as those top five streams in the Smokies.”  Now Dan is available to give fly casting lessons and guide you to some of that exceptional angling on our two miles of private water!  Welcome Dan!

Steve Schneider, Director of Sales and Marketing:  Speaking of avid anglers, Steve has literally traveled the world in search of great fishing.  Despite having caught “Grander” black marlin over 1000 pounds in Australia, Pacific sailfish on a fly in Costa Rica and tarpon to 145 pounds on fly tackle in the Florida keys, his first love has long been trout fishing and he ranks the fishing at Catatoga as “World Class”.  In recent years he has served as Director of Sales and Marketing for Homestead Preserve in Hot Springs, VA; and worked as a real estate sales and marketing consultant for several leading communities in Georgetown, SC and Tryon, NC before joining the Catatoga team in June.  He and his wife Tina have six children and have recently  relocated to nearby Brevard, NC.  We’ve got you hooked, Steve…welcome to the team!
